DUPLEX BARBUSSE
For this complete renovation project of a family duplex with initially partitioned spaces and lacking storage space following the arrival of a baby, we recreated larger volumes, while optimizing these spaces, and transformed it into a family cocoon, through a warm and wooded atmosphere.

The layout of the Duplex Barbusse by Romy Lesniowski
The rearrangement and renovation of the Duplex Barbusse represented a real renewal for this family who were welcoming their first child.
The clients' wish was to enlarge the volumes while gaining space and storage, as well as to modernize the decoration of their apartment while keeping a wooded ambiance dear to their hearts.
On the first level, we removed 3 partitions in order to completely open up the floor and considerably enlarge the space. The kitchen, initially located in the center of the floor, was moved to the end of the apartment, allowing us to open it onto the double living room and thus gain in brightness.
Originally, a very steep staircase led to the upper floor, and storage was almost non-existent. In view of the expansion of the family, we therefore started by redesigning a safer and more ergonomic staircase. We thus removed part of the floor of the upper level to add steps, in order to make the staircase more comfortable. Below the latter, we created numerous storage spaces as well as a full-height bookcase in the continuity of the double living room.
On the second level, in the attic, are the bedrooms and a bathroom. We also created lots of storage under the slope, reorganized the master bedroom, as well as the bathroom for more fluidity of passage. We created a romantic atmosphere, with a headboard wall with large moldings, and a few second-hand pieces, as furniture.
We kept the exposed beams to amplify this warm and woody atmosphere, giving it a chalet look, and designed an all-stone bathroom to further reinforce this harmony.
For this Barbusse duplex project, we also focused on satisfying the client's additional requests: a touch of classicism through a few moldings on the walls and a refined bookcase, combined with a few pastel tones that go perfectly with the wooden touches.
